The Bozeman Youth Initiative is seeking six young people between the ages of 14-18 to be student instructors with BOB, the Bozone Ozone Bus, BYI’s mobile educational greenhouse bus.  Instructors will assist with planting, maintenance and lesson planning, as well as teach lessons to local elementary students about plant anatomy and growth, growing food, and the broader natural environment.

Student instructors will attend professional training workshops in scientific and ecological aspects of greenhouse horticulture and basic educational and teaching techniques.

Program commitment will include orientation meetings, planting sessions, work days, workshops, and approximately 15 hours of teaching at local elementary schools in conjunction with bus visits.  Total time commitment for each member of the project team will be approximately 35 hours between February and early May.

Upon successful completion of all required training, work days, and teaching sessions, program participants will earn a $450 scholarship.

Now in its fourth year, the BOB program started as a grassroots student-led project and has grown to serve thousands of local students while gaining local, state, and national attention as an innovative youth leadership and science education program.

Applications will be accepted until 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013.
